As we expand into a brand-new office in Barcelona, we’re looking for a highly creative and skilled Lead Animator to join our team and bring characters, environments, and worlds to life in mobile games.
Job Summary :
We are seeking a Senior / Lead Animator with 5 to 10 years of experience in game animation, particularly focused on character and gameplay animations for the mobile gaming sector. This role requires expertise in key frame animation rather than motion capture, with a strong emphasis on stylized animation. You will work closely with other teams, both locally in Barcelona and remotely with ModMacon's global teams, to ensure seamless integration of animation assets and foster a collaborative, creative environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Steer the animation process, from concept and rigging through to final implementation in game.
- Create and deliver high-quality character animations that enhance gameplay and bring characters to life.
- Collaborate with game designers, artists, and developers to ensure animations fit within the overall game vision.
- Work with external outsourcing partners, reviewing and integrating externally produced animations into the game.
- Assist in optimizing animation workflows and pipelines for efficiency and innovation.
- Mentor and support the development of junior animators, encouraging a collaborative and growth-focused team environment.
Required Qualifications :
- 5 to 10 years of experience as an Animator in the gaming industry, with a focus on stylized 3D character animations.
- Expert proficiency in animation software such as Maya, including rigging and technical knowledge of animation pipelines.
- Expertise in key frame animation, with a strong understanding of character movement, timing, and weight in animation.
- Experience leading animation teams or managing animation production pipelines.
- Additional skills in areas like 3D art, VFX, or technical art are a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines and teams.
- Passion for gaming and delivering high-quality, engaging in-game animations.
